The Congress has unveiled an extensive five-day organisational review programme in Haryana, with newly appointed AICC in-charge Sanjay Dutt set to hold a series of meetings with MPs, MLAs, district leaders, frontal organisations, grassroots workers and defeated candidates from July 8 to July 12 as part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its organisational structure and prepare for future electoral challenges.

Announcing the schedule on Monday, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Rao Narender Singh said the visit would mark Sanjay Dutt’s first official tour of the state since being entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing party affairs in Haryana. He said the exercise is aimed at assessing the party’s organisational functioning, collecting feedback from leaders and workers, and formulating a strategy to reinforce the Congress at every level.

The visit will commence on July 8 with the General Body Meeting of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee at the party’s state headquarters in Chandigarh, where Dutt will participate as the chief guest. Following the meeting, he will hold separate interactions with Congress MPs and MLAs to review political developments, constituency-specific issues and organisational matters.

On July 9, Dutt will conduct individual meetings with presidents of all District Congress Committees (DCCs). The discussions are expected to focus on the functioning of district units, local political challenges, organisational gaps and measures to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence across Haryana.

The review process will continue on July 10 with meetings involving the heads of various frontal organisations. Later in the day, Dutt will chair a meeting of the state-level committee constituted to monitor the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He will also review the progress of the Congress’ “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign and discuss its future course.

In the evening, Dutt is scheduled to lead a candle march in Panchkula from the Community Centre in Sector-26 to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk in memory of students who lost their lives in connection with developments linked to the NEET paper leak controversy.

On July 11, the Pradesh Congress Headquarters will host an Open House programme, during which Dutt will remain available from 9 am to 4 pm to meet party workers and leaders from across the state. The initiative is intended to provide grassroots workers with an opportunity to directly present their suggestions, concerns and organisational feedback before the party leadership.

The final day of the visit, July 12, has been reserved for a detailed review of the party’s electoral performance. Dutt will hold one-on-one meetings with Congress candidates who were unsuccessful in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Haryana Assembly elections. The interactions, scheduled from 8:30 am until late evening, will focus on constituency-level feedback, reasons behind the electoral setbacks, organisational shortcomings and strategies to improve the party’s performance in future elections.

Rao Narender Singh said the comprehensive review reflects the Congress leadership’s commitment to strengthening the organisation from the booth level upwards through greater engagement with party workers and a detailed assessment of the party’s political and organisational preparedness across Haryana.
